Network Name: Public-Selkirk

The “Public-Selkirk” Wi-Fi service allows Guest users to connect laptops and other wireless devices to the Internet on our Castlegar, Nelson, Trail and Grand Forks campus locations.

Students should be connecting to Students-Selkirk Wi-Fi

How do I connect?

  1. Follow your device manufacturer's operating manual instructions to connect to "Public-Selkirk WiFi" at any of our College campus locations.

  2. Once connected to our WiFi you will be greeted by a Selkirk College branded “Click-through Splash Page”. Please read the Terms of Service (ToS) and select “Continue to the Internet”.

What if I cannot connect?

  1. Please update your Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS or Linux operating system as per your device manufacturer's instruction manual and try again.

  2. Try forgetting the Wi-Fi netlwork

    1. How to forget a Wi-fi network on your Iphone:

      Detailed Steps:

      1. Open Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone. 

      2. Go to Wi-Fi: Tap on "Wi-Fi". 

      3. Find the Network: Locate the Wi-Fi network you want to forget from the list of available networks. 

      4. Tap the Info Button: Tap the "i" (information) button located next to the network name. 

      5. Forget the Network: Tap "Forget This Network". 

      6. Confirm: Tap "Forget" again to confirm that you want to remove the network from your saved networks. 

    2. How to forget a Wi-fi network on your Android:

      Detailed Steps:

      1. Open Settings: Access the Settings app on your Android device. 

      2. Navigate to Wi-Fi: Find and tap on "Network & internet" or "Connections" and then "Wi-Fi". 

      3. Locate Saved Network: You'll see a list of saved Wi-Fi networks. Find the one you want to forget. 

      4. Forget the Network: Tap and hold on the network name. A menu will appear. Select "Forget," "Forget network," or a similar option. 

    3. To forget a Wi-Fi network on Windows 10 or 11

      1. go to Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi,

      2. then select Manage known networks.

      3. In the list of networks, click the network you want to remove and select the Forget button.

    4. To forget a Wi-Fi network on a Mac,

      1. go to Apple menu > System Settings,

      2. click Wi-Fi in the sidebar, then scroll to the "Known Networks" section,

      3. click the more button (three dots) next to the desired network, and select Remove from List

  3. Please reboot/restart your device and try again.

  4. If you are still having issues, Please document the room/location you are in, the time of day and date, the device you are using and the operating system and send an email to our IT Service Desk team or create a ticket.
