Hiring Manager Checklist
CREATING A POSTING | |
Brand New Positions: | |
| Create the Job Description. |
| Submit a “Position Request & Change form” in Unit4. If the new position is supervisory, also set up the position with its reports. |
| Submit a “Posting Requisition Form” in Unit4, allowing up to 72 hours for the approval process. |
| Once the posting has been approved, it will be integrated to Hireserve and go ‘Live’ ready to receive applications. |
Existing Positions: | |
| Using the last posting, update as needed while sticking to job description requirements. |
| Submit a “Posting Requisition Form” in Unit4, allowing up to 72 hours for the approval process. |
| Once the posting has been approved, it will be integrated to Hireserve and go “Live” ready to receive applications. |
ASSESSING CANDIDATES | |
| Once your posting is ‘Live’, you can login to Hireserve and start reviewing your applicants. |
| Determine if there are any internal employees who have applied and have seniority. |
| Using the assessment tools, complete assessments for all candidates. |
SETTING UP AND CONDUCTING INTERVIEWS | |
| Discuss with your committee interview dates and times that work (Note: HC members should be available for all). |
| Determine where the interviews will take place; in-person or via Teams? |
| If in-person, book a room for the interview date/times. Contact careers@selkirk.ca for assistance with this. |
| Create your interview schedule in Hireserve. Add your committee and be clear on location (in-person at xx campus, room ## OR via Teams, link to follow separately) |
| Shortlist your desired candidates into the interview schedule. |
| Finalize your interview schedule, which will send invites to the candidates and notify the recruitment team. |
| Work with the recruitment team on finalizing interview questions and receiving the interview packages. |
| Ensure all members of your Hiring Committee sign the code of conduct form and review the 50-30 challenge, prior to the interviews. |
CANDIDATE SELECTION | |
| Following the final interview, get the completed Interview Guides back from each of your committee members to aide you in making your decision. |
| If the hire is an external candidate, you are required to complete at least 2 reference checks, before they can be offered. |
| Notify Careers@selkirk.ca of your final candidate, they will integrate them into Unit4, giving you a draft contract to complete. Note: All offers of employment, MUST come from HR. |
| Within 24 hours of selecting final candidate, return complete interview packages to careers@selkirk.ca. |

All employment offers will be made by Human Resources. If you would like, you can arrange to be present. HR will send welcome email and request employee email to be set up. HR will send regrets to all external candidates that applied, as well as external candidates that were interviewed. HR will send regrets to all internal candidates that applied, as well as the ones that were interviewed, some exceptions may apply.
