Planning to Purchase a Personal Computer?
If you're planning to purchase a personal computer, please review the minimum requirements recommended by IT Services for optimal performance and to meet the needs of your online courses.
Basic Tech Requirements
Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is Selkirk's Learning Management System (LMS). You may have access to your syllabus, course calendar, assignments and other course materials and functions via Moodle. Moodle is a web-based program; therefore, you will need a computer with Internet access and an Internet browser to use Moodle for your course.
These basic computer requirements are a general guideline for all courses. It is important to check with your instructor for specific hardware and software required for the course and/or program you are registered in.
You will need:
- A device (computer, laptop, tablet) which meets Selkirk College's Recommended System & Computer Requirements.
System Requirements:- minimum 2 GB of RAM
- 1 GB of free hard disk space
- Display: 1024 x 780 resolution
- Highest display color quality
- Windows XP or better, Mac OSX
- Internet Service Provider with Cable or ADSL line
Please note the School of Business does not recommend Mac laptops for use in that program.
NOTE: Mobile devices and tablets are not recommended for completing or submitting course activities. Connection to Cloud services for file submissions is not supported at this time.
Computer Requirements For All Computers:
